Introduction

It pass a year from my blog publication, I think is interesting to share with you the information about the visits I received and the web trafic grow in these time. Last I let you know an analisys with the goal of take some actions that bring me more web trafic to my site.

The main goal of this site, as I mention in the mision section, is to share information, experiences and make this space an interaction test in the blogosphere, generate web trafic and later I want to subscribe to an ads system that make money for me.

Statistics

Here I show you some data about web trafic and visits along the past year, these are tools that the web hosting bring to me:

• Diferent Visitors along the 2007

The graphic shows that the trafic doubles from month 5 to 9. This was the period where more post and interesting ones were published, the last one was the web 3.0 in the month 9.

Since that month there weren't more post until the last february in 2008.

• Diferent visitors in 2008

In this graphic we note the web trafic recovery, It must be the increment in articles post.

• Visits by country February/2008

This graphic is very important because show me that the english content has more web trafic that spanish content. My intention from the begining of this project was to build a multi-language site (Spanish/English) so I can reach more people, It's clear that It was the right decision, more work but It's worth doing!.

• Top 10 phrases in search engines

Here is important to measure How the users come to my site? What content they want?. With this information I can write more specific post, more articles that my public want!. The type of content that people like more are: Time management and technorati.com (blogging).

Conclusions

From the previous analisys I can deduce the following:

• The visitors want that the content changes frecuently, they want new content!. More new content more visits!

• The english content brings a lot of web trafic, I have to make more and more. This is the main strategy.

• The content that people want is related with: time management, blogging, information society, web evolution. I will write more articles about that soon.

• If I want to accelerate the visits I have to make more publicity for the blog, I have to make It know more, I have to interact more with "internet people", make my social network grow. I have to detect where are the people of my niche.

To be very frank there are quite a bit of so called tried and tested ways to increase you blog traffic, but these merely focus on increasing hits on your blog, but do not focus on the main reason why you want more traffic viz. to read what you write and keep coming back for more.

Sites such as Blogexplosion.com do deliver on their hits, but sadly most of these hits stay for a maximum of 30 secs only, after which they click on the next blog to increase their traffic.
That brings us back to the topic, What can really be done? Is there a way out? How do i make myself heard above the din?

Well, here are some tips for starters.

1. Write. Write stuff. Write stuff people like to read.Most often blogs end up being abused by people who think the world is waiting to know what happens to them every second (I don't deny them this right...they have it!), however the same thing can be presented in a way that forces the reader to continue reading. Simple check! read as though you didn't write it. Funny? worth posting? go ahead post.

2. Make friends.I don't mean going around shaking hands with people and expect a sudden spurt in your traffic, instead post reciprocal links on your blog. Yes people do read others links and if you are there, people will visit your blog. Its an easy way to piggyback on some good blogs.

3. Articles!!!!Take some of your posts, tweak them a bit, add a snazzy caption and Presto! you have your own article ready. Now take that article and post it all around you (on the net please....i don't expect people to walk around with faces stuck with paper muffling away....thish is smy aaarticle!). There are quite a list of websites that do this.

4. Check your Site title and description ( I think this should have come in second in order....lets just forget the order for now)Get a cool title something that makes people go, "oooohh thats hhhhhhooooootttttttt" (if not that much atleast.......a "i think this might be interesting"). And remember to give a matching description (the funnier the better). This will also help you get better results on search engines.

5. Submit to Blog Search engines.Most people search for blogs not on the major search engines, but on blog search engines. So make sure your blog has been submitted to these engines. The more the merrier. Search on google for blog search engines and submit your blog to all of these.

6. PHOTOS ROCK!!!!Face it, most people do search blogs to see something interesting and what best but a photo to give them a 24million color view of something. Yes photos rock, and they do bring in traffic. It kinda gives a coolness to your site. Its like wearing colors while everyone else is in uniform. Most blogging providers support photoblogging, but if you need a place to host photos photobucket.com is a place as good as any.

7. Get original ! Showing others content may bring people to your site, but it would not make them stay. all they would say is . ...."another smartass trying to keep his blog updated by somebody else's work". So keep the blog original with what you would like to say.

8. Publicize!!!I am not talking about banner exchanges ( not only do give free advertising on your site, you also have to put up with ugly graphics that can be out of place on your beautiful site.) Think up creative ways. Get a bumper sticker on your car, your boss's car, your company delivery truck...the works. Another easier option, get it on your company's email signature or atleast on yours.

9. Evangelize!!! No i am not a religious nut and i'm not expecting you to be one. Write stuff that would make people go on and talk about you without you threatening them or paying them. And refer to "the blog" in common discussions, parties etc.... wherever you find people.

10. Ok so you got so far.......on more important thing.Don't expect to find any of the above on my blog, the only reason being, i don't need to explode my blog traffic !!!!

First thing you need to do is find the keywords you want to optimize for.
There is great tool by Overture (http://inventory.overture.com/d/sea...ory/suggestion/)
But I would suggest using this free tool called GoodKeywords
For example if you want to optimize for the keyword "tech news", just search for the keyword in any of the tools specified above... It would show you keywords related to that and not of the searches.Pick the keywords which are related to your site.

For example when you search for "Tech News" you'll see the following results:

Count Search Term
11770 tech news
351 itt news tech
191 high tech news
60 news tech texas
49 computer tech news
42 bio news tech

Now see what other terms are related to your keyword technology news
Do couple of searches like that and note down around 15-20 keywords.
Then, keep the keywords which are searched most on the top.
Now you need Title Tag for the page.
Title tag should include top 3 keywords, like for "tech news" it can be like :
"Latest Tech News, Information Technology News and Other computer raleted news here."
Remember that characters should not be more than 95 and should not have more than 3 "," commas - some search engines might cosider more than 3 commas as spam
Now move on to Meta Tags
You need following Meta Tags in web page

No need to have other meta tags like abstract, re-visit and all, most people dont read it.

Now...


This tag is tells content type is html and character set used it iso-8859-1 there are other character sets also but this is the one mosty used..



This one should have all your keywords inside starting from keyword with most counts...
keyword tag for our example would be something like :



Remember to put around 15-20 keywords max not more than that. Dont repeat keywords or dont put keywords like, "tech news", "info tech news", "latest tech news" and so on...



Provide short decription about your site and include all the keywords mentioned in the title tag.

It can be upto 255 characters and avoid using more than 3 "," commas



This is used for search robots..following explanation will help you :

index,follow = index the page as well as follow the links
noindex,follow = dont index the page but follow the links
index,nofollow = index the page but dont follow the links
noindex,nofollow = dont index page, dont follow the links
all = same as index,follow
none = same as noindex,nofollow

Now move on to body part of the page

Include all top 3 keywords here,
I would suggest to break the keyword and use it...

For example

YourSiteName.com one stop for all kind of Latest Tech News and Computer Related information and reviews.................

Include main keywords in tags

etc..
and start with

and then move to

etc..

tag will be too big but CSS can help you there, define small font size in css for H1,H2,... tags

When done with page copy, then you need to provide title and alt tags for images and links.

Use some keywords in the tags but dont add all the keywords and if not neccessary then dont use keywords in it, basically it should explain what is image all about.

Remember to add Top keyword atleast 4 times in the body and other 2 keywords thrice and twice respectively.

Now move on to Footer Part
Try to include top keywords here and see the effect, use site keywords as links i.e.

Tech News Software News etc..

Now finally, you need to read some more stuff..may be you can all it as bottom lines...

Site Map - This is page where you need to put all the links present in your site, this is will help Search Engines to find the links easily and also provide link for site map in footer, as search engines start scanning the page from bottom.

Robots.txt - This file contains address of directories which should not be scanned by search engines.. more info can be found here :http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/exclusion.html search engines line google, yahoo ask for robots.txt file.

Valid HTML - Your code should have valid html and doc type, Its kind of diffucult to follow all the standards but you can atleast open and close all the tags properly, you can check your page's html online here :http://validator.w3.org/ or you can use this free software called HTML Tidy :http://tidy.sourceforge.net/

All done now, you just need to check your site with this script, its called SEO Doctor : http://www.instantposition.com/seo_doctor.cfm

It'll show you the report of your site with solution.

Now, correct the errors and start submitting the site :

And remember, dont try to SPAM with keywords in these directories, some are handled by Human Editors

"Submitted the sites, but still i cant see you site on top?"

Wait for sometime may be a month or so but keep an eye on your search term, use http://GoogleAlert.com - this will show whenever google updates for your keywords, it will mail you the new results.

And also check whether your site is listed on google.
use this tool called Google Monitor, it can be downloaded for free from : http://www.cleverstat.com/google-monitor.htm

In windows Vista, the TCP autotuning feature is enabled by default. Some web servers do not respond properly to this feature, so it appears that some sites open with very slow speed.

To use this feature, you will need to be logged into your computer with administrative rights.
First click on Start button and type CMD in Run option then press Enter.

At Command Prompt, type the following command and press enter.
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel= disabled
This command will disable the TCP autotuning feature. Now close the command Prompt and restart your computer after any changes to go into effect.

You can easily restore these setting by typing the following command at Command Prompt.
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel= normalNow close the command Prompt and again restart your computer after any changes to go into effect
